Parents

Parents are the cornerstone of any child's education. We need parents to be involved in the day to day operations of the schools. The school has several committees and booster organizations that are focused on making the school a highly productive, wonderful place to be.

MAP - Measures of Academic Progress

This year Orange County Public Schools’ (OCPS) kindergarten, first and second grade students will participate in Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessments for Primary Grades. Select third grade students will also participate in MAP Assessment administration.
MAP is a computer-based, adaptive assessment in reading and mathematics developed by the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) designed to help teachers identify strengths and opportunities related to student learning, and focus instruction on the areas of greatest need for each child. For more information, please download the brochure MAP K-2 Brochure

Parents of the east walker pick up: As you may have noticed, there has been no parking, standing, or stopping signs posted in this area. Please do not park in the posted areas, as it poses a risk to our students' safety. Teachers are not allowed to walk students to cars or cross students in or around this area. This area is meant for students who are walking all the way home. Anyone who is parking in this area will be subject to a traffic citation by a sherriff's deputy. Thank you for all your help in making sure that our students arrive and leave our campus safely.

Our ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) Department is looking for Parent Liaisons to help support JYE and assist its ELL (English Language Learners) parents and students.

  1. Promote second language acquisition and academic achievement for ELL
  2. Provide support to the parents of ELL

In order to achieve these goals, I will assist in coordinating and presenting parent workshops during MPLC meetings, and will work towards providing parents the opportunity to learn the English language (for free) on our school campus through the Title III Parent Tutoring Program.
