Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival and Dismissal
Safety is our first priority. Please avoid using cellphones and be courteous while driving on school property. Parking on the grass or driving on the grass to pass other vehicles is not permitted.
Per the new Florida Law, every visitor is required to show identification prior to entering the school building. Please make sure to have it with you every time you visit JYE. (Even if the front office knows you 🙂). It must be displayed in the camera.

Instruction begins at 8:45am

  • Students could enter the building starting at 8:00am, please plan to bring students on-time. There is no supervision for students prior to 8:00am unless they are enrolled in our Extended Day program.
  •  Students are in the classroom ready to learn by 8:45am
  • After 8:44am parents will need to sign the student in the school as tardy.

Instruction ends at 3:00pm

  • Please try to minimize early dismissals.
  •  Car line will begin moving at 3:07pm to give students an opportunity to be dismissed after instruction ends. There will be 2 car lines: VPK and ESE (Orange Tag); Kindergarten-5th grades (Green Tag)
  • Students will not be dismissed using the backgate by the tennis courts due to HOA restrictions.
  • Back gate walkers will now use the gate by the bus loop on Crayford. Parents will not be permitted inside of the gate.
  • If you choose the walker option, please do not drive and park in the church parking lot, tennis court, Crayford Loop, or JYE grass.
  • JYE is not responsible for traffic citations. OCPS buses are on a time schedule and need access to the busway.
  •  Front gate walkers will be released to the sidewalk nearest the church.
  • To ensure the safety of all students and staff, students that are walkers can only be picked up at the gate and car riders will only be released to their cars with the identifiable car tag. Parents walking up to the front of the building will have to check-in in the front office for students to be released.
  • If you do not have a car tag, you will be required to park and provide identification in the front office.
  • Students will not be released to non-authorized individuals.
  • Any dismissal changes must be provided to the classroom teacher in writing. (Talking Points is acceptable). If you do not get a response from the teacher by 2:30pm, please contact the front office at (407) 858-3120.

Rainy Day Dismissal:

· In the event of unsafe weather, students will be dismissed according to the plan filled out by the parents the first day of school. Students will not be allowed to walk or ride their bike home if there is lightning in the area.

· In the event of severe weather close to the school, school personnel may determine it is not safe to allow students outdoors at all. In this case, parents would have to go to the office and sign the child out, get the child from the room and they are in, and take the child with them. As soon as school personnel determine the lightning has moved far enough away, dismissal will begin in the normal fashion.

Please be patient during rainy day dismissals. Our main goal will always be the safety of all the children at the school!
