End of School Year Info

Dear John Young Families and Community Members,

Our staff kicked off this school year with the following theme: STRONG HEARTS, STRONG MINDS
We committed ourselves to learning best practices for developing social emotional competencies in the children we are blessed to serve here at JYES.

I am so proud of the dedication of our teachers, PTA and School Advisory Council from day 1 through the last day of distance learning.

I believe our school team modeled for our students the very competencies we focused on this year during morning meetings, closing meetings and any authentic opportunity throughout the day to promote our students’ social emotional well-being.

1) Identifying emotions
2) Teamwork
3) Relationship building
4) Appreciating diversity
5) Respect for others
6) Goal setting
7) Communication
8) Stress management
9) Identifying/Solving problems
10) Reflecting

Lastly, I want to celebrate our amazing students for working so hard in their studies, for finding and expressing their voice in morning meetings and through their writing, for helping their classmates and their younger “classroom buddies”, for acting in a safe manner on campus and perhaps most importantly… for demonstrating resilience and kindness.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy summer.

Peace and love,

Lino Rodriguez
